Voted one of Englands 100 cultural icons in a project by the British Governments Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the early 7th century Sutton Hoo helmet is widely regarded as one of the most important Anglo-Saxon artefacts ever found.
In fragments when unearthed, extant pieces of the iron and tinned copper alloy helmet have been painstakingly reassembled. Royal Selangor's tea caddy, which draws from the superb fully complete replica based on the reconstruction, reproduces all the helmets signature decorative features, including the stamped interlacing scrollwork and the Dancing Warrior and Fallen Warrior motifs.
About the collection: A project with the British Museum, this collaboration draws on the public institutions vast collection of over 8 million artefacts, documenting the story of human culture from its earliest days to the present. Each piece is marked with the British Museum logotype.
