Thor makes his debut in 1962s Journey Into Mystery #83. As befits his Golden Age premiere, 24K gilding imparts a luxurious sepia tone to illustrator Alan Quah and sculptor Ghim Ongs spirited take, with Jack Kirby, Joe Sinnott, Stan Goldberg and Artie Simeks cover art providing support in black and white.
The Stone Men of Saturn, arriving to invade Earth, have failed to count on Thor coming to the planets defence. Exquisitely modeled, the God of Thunder prepares to unleash his war hammer Mjölnir to send the aliens packing, in an issue that presents his origin story.
Alan Quah is a respected illustrator in the international comics and collectibles communities. Ghim Ongs strong interest in 3D sculpting has led to his working on Marvel, DC and Disney properties.
